Commercial Kitchen Electrical Fit-Out in St Helena: Rangehood, Induction & Power Installation
Commercial Kitchen Electrical Fit-Out in St Helena
Delivering a functional, safe and compliant commercial kitchen requires more than just connecting appliances — it demands careful planning, correct circuit design, and strict adherence to Australian standards.
In this recent project in St Helena, our team completed a full electrical fit-out for a commercial kitchen, ensuring all systems were installed, tested, and ready for reliable daily use.
Rangehood Installation & Exhaust Integration
A key feature of this project was the installation of a stainless steel canopy rangehood.
The unit was:
Positioned and securely mounted in line with manufacturer requirements
Connected to an existing compliant power circuit
Integrated into solid exhaust ductwork with all joins sealed
Tested to confirm correct airflow direction and performance
Proper ventilation is critical in commercial kitchens, and ensuring the rangehood operates efficiently helps maintain air quality, safety, and compliance.
Power Distribution for Kitchen Appliances
To support the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, we installed dedicated power outlets for key appliances:
1 x double GPO for microwave use
2 x quad GPOs for above-bench appliances
All outlets were:
Installed in practical, agreed locations
Securely mounted and neatly finished
Tested for polarity, earthing, and RCD protection
All electrical work was completed in accordance with AS/NZS 3000:2018 wiring rules, ensuring long-term safety and compliance.
H2: Induction Cooktop & Oven Connection
We also completed the fit-off and connection of a new induction cooktop and oven combination unit.
This included:
Connection to a dedicated circuit installed during earlier stages
Concealed subcircuit cabling within the wall cavity for a clean finish
Installation of a 45A isolation switch within arm’s reach of the appliance
The isolation switch allows for safe and immediate disconnection when required, which is essential in commercial environments.
Following installation, the system was fully tested to confirm correct operation and performance.
Clean Finish & Future Works
All works were completed, tested, and left in a safe and operational condition.
A splashback is scheduled to be installed by the client shortly, which will complete the final finish of the kitchen and ensure full compliance around the cooking area.
Why Professional Electrical Fit-Outs Matter in Commercial Kitchens
Commercial kitchens place high demand on electrical systems. Poor installation can lead to:
Overloaded circuits
Equipment failure
Safety risks
Non-compliance with regulations
Working with a qualified commercial electrician ensures:
Correct load management
Safe isolation of appliances
Compliance with Australian standards
A clean, professional finish ready for use
