After-Hours Power Upgrade for a Safer, More Reliable Strata Network

That’s why Cable & Connect was called in for a recent project in Moonee Ponds, where we worked alongside Jemena to complete a crucial evening power upgrade with minimal disruption to residents.

Our team attended during a scheduled Jemena shutdown at 7:30pm to install a new three-phase FOLCB (fused overhead line circuit breaker). This upgrade included:

  • Supply and installation of a 100A three-phase circuit fused mains box

  • Mounting a pole side bracket for secure and compliant placement

  • Coordination with Jemena to ensure safe reconnection and testing

These works ensure the property’s electrical infrastructure now meets current Australian standards and can safely handle higher capacity loads—important for shared residential and commercial strata properties.

While on-site, we also took the opportunity to improve lighting across the shared areas:

💡 Replaced five E27 LED globes in common-area lights
💡 Installed a new PAR38 LED globe in the bin area for better nighttime visibility and energy savings

By combining efficiency upgrades with proactive maintenance, the building’s residents and management team now enjoy better safety, improved lighting, and reduced ongoing maintenance costs.
