10 Days of Cable & Connect: Our First Boardroom Video Conferencing Project

Boardroom Video Conferencing Installation in Box Hill

An 86-inch touchscreen, four pairs of hands and a memorable first for Cable & Connect.

For Day 2 of our 10th birthday countdown, we’re revisiting our first boardroom video conferencing project at The Leprosy Mission in Box Hill.

The installation featured an 86-inch interactive touchscreen and a video conferencing setup. It was a milestone for Cable & Connect—and getting the screen into the room was a story in itself.

Getting a 100 kg screen upstairs

Some parts of a project never make it into the finished photos.

This touchscreen weighed approximately 100 kg and took four of our team to get up the stairs. Before the installation could take shape, there was the practical challenge of getting a very large piece of equipment into its intended space.

Looking at the completed boardroom now, it’s easy to forget that part. For those of us who were there, it remains one of the most memorable details of the job!

An interactive display for the boardroom

The 86-inch touchscreen became the focal point of the room, paired with a video conferencing setup for meetings with people joining remotely.

The finished photos show the wall-mounted display with a camera positioned above it and audio equipment below. Together, the installation brought presentation and conferencing equipment into the boardroom in a tidy arrangement.

The project photos also capture some of the less visible details, including an equipment rack and a recessed floor box with power outlets. These are the parts of a meeting space that don’t always take centre stage in the final photograph.

A first worth looking back on

As our first boardroom video conferencing project, this job marked an important moment in Cable & Connect’s story.

It brought together the installation itself, the practical challenges of the building and the teamwork needed to get everything into place. It’s exactly the kind of project we wanted to revisit during our anniversary countdown.

We’ve shared this boardroom on our blog before. This time, we’re celebrating the people and memories behind the finished photos—including the four-person effort on the stairs.

Celebrating 10 years of Cable & Connect

Our 10 Days of Cable & Connect series looks back at projects that have shaped the business, leading up to our tenth birthday.

Thanks to The Leprosy Mission for being part of that journey, and to everyone who helped bring this installation together.
