When it comes to bathroom ventilation, replacing an old exhaust fan isn't always the best solution. Recently, the Cable & Connect team completed a comprehensive electrical and ventilation upgrade for a client in Eltham, modernising the bathroom, toilet, laundry and kitchen electrical systems while significantly improving the home's ventilation performance.
Custom Inline Exhaust Ventilation System
For this project, we designed and installed a premium Fantech inline exhaust system using two separate inline fans to service three different areas of the home.
The new system included:
Fantech RIL-200 inline exhaust fan servicing the bathroom
Fantech RIL-150 inline exhaust fan servicing the toilet and laundry
New insulated ducting installed throughout the ceiling space
New Fantech Rapid Response ceiling grilles
New duct connections and neck adapters
Run-on timers installed and adjusted for improved moisture removal
Electrical wiring altered to separate lighting and fan controls
Inline exhaust systems offer several advantages over traditional ceiling-mounted fans, including quieter operation, improved airflow and more efficient removal of moisture, helping reduce mould and condensation within the home.
Electrical Upgrades Throughout the Home
While completing the ventilation works, we also carried out a number of electrical upgrades throughout the property, including:
Replacement of multiple Clipsal Iconic switches
Replacement of bathroom and kitchen power points
Installation of new double power points with appliance switches
Replacement of kitchen, bathroom and toilet LED downlights
Enlarging ceiling cut-outs to accommodate new 90mm LED downlights
Replacement of the existing smoke alarm
External light maintenance and testing
Repair and reconnection of the existing rangehood ducting after identifying a disconnected exhaust duct
Switchboard Safety Improvements
As part of the project, our electricians also completed important switchboard safety upgrades, including:
Installation of new RCBO protection for the oven circuit
Replacement and derating of the existing lighting circuit protection to a compliant 10A RCBO
Full testing, commissioning and verification of all completed electrical works
These upgrades help improve both the safety and reliability of the home's electrical installation while ensuring the new equipment is properly protected.
