We’re approaching Cable & Connect’s 10th birthday, and to celebrate, we’re sharing 10 days of projects and memories from across the years.

For Day 1, we’re heading back to and our first large project: installing four Mitsubishi Electric ceiling cassette air conditioners at a Catholic girls’ school in Heidelberg.

It was an early milestone for the business—and a project that gave us a challenge worth remembering.

Working with a pitched ceiling

Every building brings its own considerations. On this project, the pitched ceiling was a key part of the challenge.

The installation needed to accommodate four ceiling cassette units while achieving a tidy finish within the existing space. With the ceiling’s slope, exposed beams and surrounding fittings, the appearance of the completed installation mattered alongside the work itself.

Custom plaster bulkheads provided the solution, creating a level mounting area for each cassette beneath the pitched ceiling.

A finish we’re still proud of

The finished photos show how the bulkheads sit within the ceiling, framing each unit and giving the installation a neat, consistent appearance.

Those details are what make this project stand out in our archives. It was a substantial early job, and seeing all four units installed with the finished bulkheads was a proud moment for Cable & Connect.

Still going strong over 10 years later

More than 10 years after installation, these systems are still going strong.

That makes this a fitting project to revisit as we approach our tenth anniversary. It represents an important stage in the business’s early years and remains a memorable example of working through a challenging installation.
