SAL PIXIE Smart Power Sequencing for Commercial AV Equipment in Cheltenham
Smart AV Power Control Using SAL PIXIE in Cheltenham
Sequencing AV Equipment for Controlled Start-Up and Shutdown
When a professional AV system contains multiple displays, speakers and pieces of supporting equipment, turning everything on and off isn't always as simple as flicking one switch.
Cable & Connect recently commenced installation of a SAL PIXIE smart power control and sequencing system for AV equipment within a Worship Hall in Cheltenham.
The system is being designed to group connected AV equipment and control the order in which devices receive power. This allows equipment to be powered on and off in a controlled sequence, with delays between different equipment groups rather than energising everything simultaneously.
During the first stage of the project, eighteen existing AV-related power outlets were replaced with SAL PIXIE Smart Double GPOs.
Both white and black outlets were selected to suit the existing finishes. Each outlet was tested and labelled according to the equipment it supplies, ready for allocation into source and load-side control groups during final commissioning.
At the technical desk, our team installed a SAL PIXIE Smart Gateway, smart keypad and new 8-port PoE network switch to establish the network and local-control infrastructure required for the system.
Existing data points were tested and the cabling behind the technical desk was reorganised while access was available. TVs and speakers were also labelled to correspond with the new GPO and control layout.
A network cable was installed ready for the SAL PIXIE Smart Touch Panel, which will form part of the next stage.
Once complete, the system will provide a more intuitive way to manage the venue's AV equipment, with programmed source and load groups controlling how connected equipment starts and shuts down.
Cable & Connect designs and installs customised electrical, data and AV control solutions for commercial, community and specialised spaces across Melbourne.
