10 Days of Cable & Connect: Our First Frame TV Installation

Concealed cabling and a hidden One Connect box gave this school installation a clean finish.
For Day 3 of our anniversary series, we’re looking back at our first Samsung Frame TV installation at a Catholic girls’ school in Heidelberg.
With artwork on the screen and a timber-look frame around it, the finished display blended neatly into the room. Achieving that uncluttered appearance took some careful work behind the scenes—particularly because we were installing it on a solid brick wall.
The challenge: concealing cables in solid brick
The cabling was a key consideration on this project. To achieve the intended finish, we needed a concealed route between the wall-mounted screen and its connection equipment.
We chased channels into the brick wall and installed ducting to contain the cables. This allowed the cabling to be hidden within the wall while providing a route for replacement if needed later.
It was an important detail: the installation needed to look tidy on completion, while also allowing for future access to the cabling.
Keeping the One Connect box out of sight
The screen wasn’t the only part of the installation that needed a home.
We installed the One Connect box inside a recessed floor box, keeping the equipment out of the way and accessible through the lid. The project photos show both the open box with its connections and the closed lid sitting within the carpeted floor.
Combined with the concealed cable route, this kept the area beneath the TV clear of equipment and trailing leads.
A simple-looking result with thoughtful details
The finished installation brought together:
A wall-mounted Samsung Frame TV.
Cabling chased into the solid brick wall.
Ducting to allow for cable replacement if required.
A One Connect box housed in a concealed floor box.
With the screen displaying artwork, the frame became the focus of the wall. The supporting equipment remained tucked away, giving the room the clean appearance we were working towards.

Our first Frame TV installation is a reminder that some of the most important parts of a project are the ones you don’t see in the finished photos.
The solid brick wall made this one a challenge, and the concealed cabling and floor box are the details we still remember as we look back over 10 years of Cable & Connect.
