What begins as a common-area lighting issue can sometimes uncover a much more important electrical fault.

Cable & Connect recently completed common lighting repairs and a public light and power switchboard upgrade at a strata property in Carnegie.

A failed globe serving the upstairs foyer was replaced, along with two outdoor oyster light fittings to restore lighting around the property.

Attention then turned to the common light and power switchboard.

The existing board was upgraded with a new weatherproof enclosure and backing board, together with new circuit protection including a 25A miniature circuit breaker and two 10A RCBOs.

During the works, our electricians also identified a mixed neutral fault within the switchboard. The fault was investigated and successfully rectified on site before testing and commissioning of the altered circuits was completed.

This type of project demonstrates why electrical maintenance sometimes needs to look beyond the fitting that has stopped working. Investigating the infrastructure supplying those fittings can uncover issues that would otherwise remain hidden.
