Stronger WiFi, Smarter Setup – Without the Visual Clutter

At this recent project in Eltham, our team at Cable & Connect completed a full WiFi and network upgrade, delivering fast, stable connectivity throughout the home — all while keeping the installation clean and discreet.
A Clean, High-Performance WiFi Solution
For this home, we installed a Ubiquiti UniFi system, designed to provide seamless coverage and long-term reliability.
We supplied and installed two UniFi U7 Pro Wireless Access Points, carefully positioned to maximise coverage:
One at the front of the home
One centrally located towards the rear
To maintain a clean aesthetic, both access points were ceiling-mounted and concealed within the ceiling space. This means no visible devices on walls or shelves, while still delivering strong, consistent WiFi performance across the entire home.
Structured Cabling for Reliable Performance
We installed new Cat6 data cabling from each access point back to the home’s central communications area. All cabling was neatly run, terminated, labelled, and tested to ensure long-term reliability and easy servicing if required.
A Dahua managed PoE switch was installed to power and control the network devices, keeping the setup efficient and streamlined.
Smart Router Upgrade with Remote Management
As part of the upgrade, we installed and configured a Ubiquiti Cloud Gateway Ultra (UCG-Ultra), replacing the existing router.
This device acts as both the modem and central gateway for the network, allowing for:
Improved network performance
Better device management
Secure remote access for monitoring and updates
This means any future adjustments or troubleshooting can often be handled remotely, saving time and hassle for the homeowner.
Fully Tested and Commissioned
Once installed, we completed full testing and commissioning of the system, including:
WiFi coverage and performance
Network connectivity across devices
TV and audio system integration (including ARC functionality)
All works were completed in line with Australian Standards (AS/NZS 3000), and a Certificate of Compliance was provided.
